Design VII: Urban Wellness Centers
Students design healthcare architecture for underserved communities in Santo Domingo. Not hospitals—wellness centers that rethink how architecture supports community health. They research biophilic and neuroscience design principles, interview residents about healthcare gaps, analyze how natural light and ventilation create healing environments. The question: How does architecture serve health beyond the clinic model? Projects integrate into Lab Santo Domingo 2025—a multi-institutional collaboration connecting waterfront to city center through walkable, flood-resilient networks. Architecture as public health infrastructure.
